Been lazy lately, but some good news too! (Life)

I’ve slacked off the last week or so since I broke (and have now fixed) my bike, and now that the weather is awesome (and I have the day off work!) now is a great time to get back on the bike (and do some other exercises too). In other news, I passed my HND with a Merit grade which means I got what I needed to get into the second year at Bangor! Woot! Although it is pretty scary, as I’ll be going in around 8 (short) weeks! This gives more urgency to my getting healthy plans! I’ve lost...

First Week With The Google Nexus 7 (gadgets)

I’ve had my 16gb Nexus 7 for nearly a week now, and here are some of my initial thoughts from this first week. The device is amazing. I don’t miss the iPad at all, surprisingly. As I said in a previous post everything I mainly used on the iPad has a fairly decent Android alternative and this is definitely true. I even found a brilliant replacement for Goodreader! (EzPDF) I rooted the Nexus the day I got it using the Nexus Root Toolkit, but I did have to manually download the Google USB Driver from the SDK before I could...

Biking Biking Biking

+Laurence Andrews already posted about our latest biking escapade. I’ve made a point to go more days this week than last, and so far I’ve equalled my current stats. Tonight’s ride was pretty cool, around 6.6 miles. It was starting to rain, but wasn’t that bad really since it was fairly light. I had my new waterproof bike jacket and glasses I got from Aldi’s for less than a tenner so to be honest I was pretty comfortable. Except for the seat, which is being replaced tomorrow! Yay! I actually can’t wait. We stumbled across a random man on a...

50 Mile Goal Is 40 Complete (Health)

Went out yesterday and today, and rode for around 5 miles each day. Today I thought it was a really awesome idea to ride down a country lane. That was really a farmers track. Bear in mind it has been raining all morning. I ended up with a rather large block of mud around my front brakes and suspension fork. Got a tad messy removing it all, and eventually gave up when I got most of it out. I don’t think I’ll be going up that path again any time soon… Today’s ride was 5.6 miles and was a tad...

iPad for Students (reviews)

I get really bored when people tell me that my iPad is useless and I shouldn’t of bought it. Apparently I can’t use it for anything productive at all. Well, the thing that this sort of person usually gets wrong is that they think the iPad (or any tablet to be honest!) can take the place of a laptop or desktop. It can’t. It wasn’t meant to. If you can find good uses for it, then buy one; if you can’t then don’t! My iPad is primarily used to read Kindle eBooks and lecture notes both in Powerpoint and PDF...

Android Applications That Are Awesome

This post is mainly for my friend Jack’s benefit, since he has finally gotten up to speed with a new HTC One S. You might find it handy too, though. What follows is a run down of the applications that I use on my phone on a regular basis. 3G Watchdog Keeps a track of how much data I use in a month, making sure I don’t go over the allowance. Handy. Sits quietly in the notification tray. DeskSMS Sit phone in cradle on desk. Send text messages from browser on laptop. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Juice Defender I don’t really...

Catching Up With My Ipad And Other Assorted Crap

I’m quite happy to have my shiny (sort of) new iPad. No, I don’t have an iPad (3rd Generation) or a ‘New iPad’ as everyone loves to call it. I bought my dad’s old iPad because he of course had to have to latest. Not a problem, it means I get his old stuff. It’s not that old, and it’s still very awesome. Considering I recently discovered a version of Sim Tower for the thing… (Yoot Tower, if you are interested at all) I’ve been without an iPad for just under two months (I sold my iPad in January for...

Cheap Microphone Stand For Podcasting (podcast)

Cheap Microphone Stand For Podcasting
Yeah, I realise there is probably a million things wrong with this, but hey… We’re poor and can’t afford a proper stand at the minute. So this will have to do. We’re going to record episode 3 of our podcast this week, which you can find and subscribe over at www.theunnamedpodcast.co.uk!   And yes, I should probably tidy my desk.
