Cotswold Lavender
We recently spent a few days staying in a cottage in the Cotswolds and my wife was saddened to read that Cotswold Lavender would be closing on August 5th (one day before we arrived!). Imagine her face when we saw their post on social media that they would be open for a few more days!
We visited Yorkshire Lavender in August 2023 and Cotswold Lavender was high on our list of things to do whilst we were staying in the area.
They are now closed until June 2025 but I wanted to write about our visit. Cotswold Lavender is located just outside the village of Snowshill and nearby to the town of Broadway. The carpark was large and well laid out, but I'd probably want to arrive early just to be sure of a space. The site is cashless and you can buy your tickets as you enter via card or contactless. We paid £5.50 each when we went in August 2024.
The fields are absolutely massive and you're able to roam freely as much as you like (including through the lavender!) We made a bee-line (pun intended) for the far side to get some steps in, and to take some photos away from everyone else. The smell of the lavendar is absolutely amazing; if you've never been to a lavender field, I highly recommend it for this reason alone. Just try not to fall asleep!
We grabbed a coffee and sat down to enjoy it surrounded by lavender. It was the most relaxing espresso I've drank in such a long time! A double espresso was £3.15 and it was worth every penny. My wife had a lavender tea (what else?!) which was £2.80 and she reported it was excellent too.
Aside from lavender fields, they also have several wild flower meadows as seen in my photos below as well as a short nature trail through a nearby woodland which has views out over the surrounding countryside.
Cotswold Lavender is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area next year. I even managed to nab a bench photo for OpenBenches when I spotted a bench in the corner of a field with a plaque.
