Week Notes - 2026-27
Last week was nice. I only had to work for two days before we headed off to spend some time with my wife's family. Along the way we visited some National Trust properties and gardens, had a lovely BBQ, and even got in some birdwatcher.
I also created a new static photo gallery generator (yes, I used Claude Code. No, I don't really care what you think. You can check it out out https://photos.jamesleighton.com.
It is a python application that runs locally and generates the HTML/JS/Images ready to host anywhere you'd like. It's fully responsive, supports keyboard shortcuts, and is super snappy. I am planning to release the source code at some point, but do let me know if you'd be interested in testing it out yourself.
๐ Reading
I finished Startup Hell during our trip. It was excellent, and I highly recommend it. Funny, and smart from start to finish. Next on my list to read is Mythos by Stephen Fry. I'm about a third of the way through and it's a tough one to put down. I'm learning a ton about the ancient gods... I knew of the gods by name, but this is all about their origins. Fascinating stuff.
๐ฎ Gaming
Before we went way, I played more Raccoin. Game is honestly hard to put down. I think I even unlocked an achievement for having a single coin score over 1,000,000 points. It's a shame I didn't get to duplicate that coin. I took my Switch away with us, and settled on starting Ni No Kuni. I think I am ready for my next long game finally! I remember playing it on PS3 a long time ago, but I never got very far. Hopefully this time I stick with it.
