Week Notes - 2026-35
The first week back after a holiday is always tough.. At least today is a bank holiday which means we have a four day week to make me feel a bit better. The days are slowly getting shorter, and Christmas is finally on the horizon which makes me happy too.
Reading
I continued reading Heroes which absolutely fascinates me. I knew that Greek mythology deeply permeates modern culture but I am continually surprised when I recognize the original version of a modern story or trope. Once this is done, I'm probably going to jump back into The Witcher series as the news that The Witcher 3 Remastered is coming next month has excited for once again for that particular universe.
Gaming
I didn't spend too much time gaming last week. I need to stop "thinking" about what I want to play and just play! Raccoin was fun, my current playthrough is nearly at the "idle" stage where I don't have to click all that much to score the big points. It is arguable less fun like this, but I do kind of want to see how far I can take it before running out of steam.
Other than that, I played small amounts of Pilotwings Resort and Lumines Remastered. Pilotwings on 3DS was a launch title and that shows, but it is still fantastic. It honestly seems like a good game to play when you can't decide on anything else. Lumines Remastered is great too, and I usually play it when I get close to wanting to buy the new version of Steam.
I'll probably play more 3DS and Switch over the coming months, as I have a ton of great games enjoy on both devices. The 3DS in particular is getting a bit old and it would be a shame to never get to some of these games before the hardware grim reaper makes an appearance.
Talking about the backlog... we saw soom very cool looking games get announced this week: Lego Skylines, Worms Galactic Tactics... Clearly Backlog mountain will forever grow.
Other Stuff
I spent a ton of time (and tokens) working on my Time Tracker project. Current ideas in planning: MCP server, and a Kobo plugin to automatically log reading. This week I (read: Claude) created some 3DS homebrew that reads the activity log, and posts it to my server for processing.
I will probably release a version of this that dumps the log to CSV as I feel like people would find this useful, and there's not really any simple tools to do this currently. Reach out if this would be useful for you!
On the blog front, I tidied up and automated my #100DaysToOffload Tracking at the bottom of each post (because I kept messing it up), and added a section to the footer that shows links to three random posts. Perhaps you'd like to read some of these?
